Howdy - Recently acquired a career USAF officer's group. His service started in 1940. He flew in the Pacific with the 42nd Bomb Group, rising to the rank of LtCol by end of the war at age 26. He made Colonel in the USAF in 1951 at age 32!

He flew F-86s in Korea. The P-3 is decorated with the patch of the 93rd Fighter Squadron and an insignia of a top-hatted skull with a cane. Can anyone i.d. that skull patch/insignia?

Thanks......Bobgee

Thanks! I had found the 95th FS. It has all the same elements but in a different design. So wasn't sure. Since the other is the 93rd it follows tht the 95th was in the same wing....and he was probably the commander. Bob

Nice helmet. According to wikipedia.org, the 93rd FIS flew variants of the F-86 during the 1950s.

The skull patch/insignia looks familiar. Will have to do more research. What type of ear cushions

are in the helmet-Chamois/rubber or rubber covered foam?

BTW - the ear cushions are chamois covered rubber. Bobgee
