Please Help Identify this WWII era Submarine Badge

I would appreciate any information about this Submarine Badge.

It is a full size (2-3/4"), pinback, marked Sterling.

Also marked CWP on the left and 6D on the right.

 

I am curious to know the era or this piece (WWII?)

and what CWP and 6D may indicate.

Do you know what the CWP stamp stands for?

Interesting on the additional mark CWP, Denmark during this period (mid 50s-mid 60s) from what we seen used either the 6D by itself or Denmark NY 6D.

I found out that CWP stands for "Controlled Work Package" which was a certification stamp

of quality control for contracted manufacturing.
