Please Help Identify this WWII era Submarine Badge

I would appreciate any information about this Submarine Badge.

It is a full size (2-3/4"), pinback, marked Sterling.

Also marked CWP on the left and 6D on the right.

 

I am curious to know the era or this piece (WWII?)

and what CWP and 6D may indicate.

This 6D hallmark was used by the Denmark Military Equipment Corporation, New York from about mid 1950s to mid 1960s.

As a stretch, could this be the initials of the Sailor how wore this badge, personally engraved???

 

I thought about that, but the letters appear to be stamped vs. engraving.

HMM yes I got ya, I,m stumped.

 

I found out that CWP stands for "Controlled Work Package" which was a certification stamp

of quality control for contracted manufacturing.
