As far as unmarked tridents, these started showing up around the time NS Meyer was bought out by Vanguard, as noted By the Combat Swimmer Newsletter. Meyer was in the restrike business to the collectors market. When the Meyer stuff was dumped in the market, a ton of unmarked and unfinished insignia was in the lot As pointed out the UDT/ Silver SEAL badges were around for only a year (72) and up until the unmarked tridents flooding the market, the only original badges from Team members were all properly hallmarked. My opinion, and it is just that, unmarked are collectors copies that can be found at most shows. The gold UDT badges, when used , were made for less than 100 guys in the span of a year qualified to wear them. I just cant believe that some company made up hundreds of unmarked badges to fill any demand other than the collector market. This in light that marked badges are still available in quantity if you want them. Again, My opinion now just as was the opinion was during the span of the Combat Swimmer Newsletter.

Skir, Army jump wings were also used quite a lot by WC UDTs and SEALs.

That cruise book is cool. I recognize several names. and I think I have a UDT 21 shirt from DEARMON stashed away somewhere.

Here's a nice "salty" one I picked up not too long ago... a subdued SEAL Trident, made by Vanguard. You can just barely see the marking on the back V-21-N. I'll post a close up of it.

Does anyone know what time period these metal subdued insignia were used? I don't think they are currently in use and have been replaced with the sewn SEAL Trident name tapes. Thanks!

Thanks, Kadet!

It's a little newer than what I usually collect, but I liked the "salty" look and figured a subdued one would be good to have.

Finally found a small shirt or cap size Freddie... part of a small grouping I recently got.

You are always finding some great stuff. I believe these small UDT-21 patches were worn on swim trunks as the picture illustrates below.

Hello all,

I recently picked up this UDT insignia. I don't know much about these and it isn't something I collect, but I thought the hallmark was kind of interesting. I was curious what you all thought of it? Real/fake? Any idea as to value? Thanks!

Last of the photos. It measures about 2 inches and the clutches are marked "Ballou"? I think.

It looks right to me as Ive seen that small stamped N on the flintlock handle on other period UDT badges. However this is an unusual piece as what are the odds of another Vanguard piece surfacing where Antaya has placed their hallmark over their competitors hallmark similarity to the above pictured Trident.

Hi all, Ive just been offered this SEAL Trident. What are peoples thoughts on it, I think its fake. The gold is wearing off on the high points. There are no dashes separating the V 21 N and the back looks soft like its been cast from a real Trident. Thank you for your help, Mark.

What are your thoughts on these unmarked UDT insignia? I purchased it from a dealer who said he bought up Gemsco's inventory. I have seen 1/20 silver filled Antaya marked trident on Gemsco cards, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gemsco got some of their insignia from other makers and sold them to its customers. It looks a lot like the quoted Vanguard/ Antaya badge in my opinion.

I tried to take a better picture of the above insignia but it's tricky since some parts are polished while others aren't. I was hesitant to consider these unmarked ones original since I've heard of insignia being made for collectors using original dies. However, this one appears to be older and the finishing is consistent with the Vanguard/ Antaya made piece above. Thoughts?

Here some current SEAL/SWCC rates and misc. insignia.  The trident and para wings are bad reproductions but the 2 SWCC badges are legit, old styles.
