Tonomachi Posted November 30, 2016 Share #27 Posted November 30, 2016 I don't trust ANY Tridents made on ERDL camo. Isn't this an original SVN War direct embroidery Trident on ERDL camouflage?
vintageproductions Posted November 30, 2016 Share #28 Posted November 30, 2016 I think what Mike is saying is that he doesn't trust the Trident's that are sewn on erdl material as a patch.
Spike Posted November 30, 2016 Author Share #29 Posted November 30, 2016 Tonomachi, that Slattery shirt is a whole different thing.

Spike Posted November 30, 2016 Author Share #31 Posted November 30, 2016 These 2 shirts belonged to SEALs that were both in Oscar platoon at Solid Anchor 1971.
digi-shots Posted December 4, 2016 Share #32 Posted December 4, 2016 Here are a couple of SEAL Trident insignias... some marked, some not, hollow back & solid... a "silver" one that looks like a hand sand-cast. Thanks for looking. and the back side, some with hallmarks... H&H (Hilborn & Hamburger), Antaya (hollow & solid) and a Vanguard (current).

Kadet Posted January 10, 2017 Share #38 Posted January 10, 2017 US NAVY name tape and TRIDENT on Woodland BDU... This looks like what was worn in the 80s. In the 90s it was switched to subdued metal pin on insignia, then in the 2000s back to the cloth
digi-shots Posted January 10, 2017 Share #39 Posted January 10, 2017 Spike, nice white name tapes! Any chance they are named? (If you don't feel comfortable showing the name, that's ok, I understand) Kadet, thanks... wasn't sure when the subdued pin on's were used. Kadet Posted January 10, 2017 Share #40 Posted January 10, 2017 Speaking of tapes, what are the thoughts on these? I'm fairly certain the top three are original...not sure about the bottom, although the construction seems right. I have very little in these so it won't break my heart either way. I'm putting together a display of VN - 70s era SEAL/UDT insignia for my office but only want original items in it...
digi-shots Posted January 10, 2017 Share #41 Posted January 10, 2017 Kadet.... .LOL ! Sure you still have these...? I have the same exact ones in my "unknown" drawer... I'd like to move them to my display area but just not sure if they are good or not. I'll post some pics in a few minutes. With the snow we've had, I've had some spare time to move things around and photo some stuff. I've got a couple of late 1960's and 1970's items and would like to include these names tapes. I just don't want the fake stuff to take away from some of the known good ones.
digi-shots Posted January 10, 2017 Share #42 Posted January 10, 2017 Spike, here are the name tapes that are similar to yours. You can see a bit of variation in color on these tapes.
digi-shots Posted January 10, 2017 Share #43 Posted January 10, 2017 I thought while I had the other tapes out, I'd photo these:

Kadet Posted January 10, 2017 Share #45 Posted January 10, 2017 Wow. Deja vu. I am almost certain my top two are originals. They have an almost emerald green color, and I have seen these applied to uniforms.
Spike Posted January 10, 2017 Author Share #46 Posted January 10, 2017 The dark green ones are legit and are seen in pictures. I'm not sure about the grey-ish ones. I have a bunch of them as well, one of them being UDT/TI. digi-shots, yes, both shirts are named to the same man and have white name tapes. Spike Posted January 10, 2017 Author Share #47 Posted January 10, 2017 Some UDT 21/22 and SEAL 1 and 2 tapes. I have no idea whether the SEAL 1 tape is legit but it is sewn like all the others. The only ones I know were used are the green ones.
Spike Posted January 10, 2017 Author Share #48 Posted January 10, 2017 This is a small patch. Seen on UDT trunks.
Spike Posted January 10, 2017 Author Share #49 Posted January 10, 2017 These came off a shirt that was pretty trashed and couldn't really be saved.
digi-shots Posted January 10, 2017 Share #50 Posted January 10, 2017 Spike, thanks for the printed name tapes. I've seen printed tapes before, do you have any idea why they were printed vs. embroidered? How small is the "Freddie" patch, I don't think I've seen small ones before. I posted these patches on the forum before, but thought this might be a good thread to put them in. They measure about 3" in diameter. Do they all look OK? (none are iron-on). Thanks!
