48stars Posted November 13, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2016 Pretty rare bird I'd say considering only 706 total were made all variants included.

Swifter Posted November 14, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2016 That wheel is definitely a nice find. But the plugs inserted in back where the triggers should be indicate it might be out of a different aircraft. Probably a North American B-45 Tornado which used the same wheel. I haven't looked up production of the B45 but I suspect it's even lower than Black Widow total. The Douglas A-26, and Lockheed PV-2 Harpoon also used that wheel design. I've attached a photo of the wheel in the B-45 since it's like yours.

JDK Posted November 16, 2016 Share #11 Posted November 16, 2016 I sold a original P-61 control wheel a few years back. It had some damage, but still brought over $1,000 JD
48stars Posted November 17, 2016 Author Share #12 Posted November 17, 2016 Wow! This one is doing well for just a couple of days at 400- plus. Lots of watchers and I could certainly use the money.
JDK Posted November 19, 2016 Share #13 Posted November 19, 2016 Wasn't this figured to likely be out of a B-45 in the above post? The eBay description only lists it as a P-61 or A-26. JD
48stars Posted November 19, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted November 19, 2016 That's all I had figured out at the time of the listing but promptly added the question and my answer that explains the B-45 probability. Unfortunately no details can be changed but new info can be added. I figure anyone knowledgeable enough in the subject matter and/or the use of Ebay will figure it out. As stated in my answer to Swifter in the listing, this is basically the bare bones of a control wheel used for several very "cool birds" and could be a restoration base for any one of them with the right parts. 48stars Posted November 22, 2016 Author Share #15 Posted November 22, 2016 Well I just added another line to the description, I just found out that bidders aren't informed of the shared Q&A section as I thought. As far as I know, they will receive an update of description, I have in the past and it's the best I can do.
