Doe anyone know if Donna is still selling Wosk Store items on eBay?

Her account is still active. Has 6 or 7 random auctions. Two-three weeks after the San Diego ASMIC show a few years back all of her items went to auction. Sold by the pallet and it went very cheap.

Seller is a member here with a sterling reputation for honesty and a knowledge surpassing many. Instead of pussyfooting around behind his back, why not send him a message and let him know about your opinions or this discussion? Then include a response, if any?

Gotta agree with this post.

WorldWarPatches

The staples on the questionable items look bent from being removed from another patch. I do not think the current is pulling a fast one, but that someone pulled a fast one on him. All the Wosk tags I have on patches with MR in the inventory # are on USMC patches.

SOOO this guys is lying?? listed by steviewonder2002

from one of the listing

"Thru a recent deal I bought all the remaining stock from the family / heirs of the owner Harry S Wosk.Included were some one of a kind and very limited supply items. Some even came out of the personal collection of the family from the store The supplies are limited but there are a lot of patches which I will list as time permits."

From post #13 on this thread. Maybe the heir or someone claiming to be family sold him the patches and hoodwinked him. I am sure someone has sent him an E Mail regarding the topic by now....

FYI: as noted above the seller is aparently a member of this forum, but with over 20,000 members here I imagine few would know that. What you should know is that all manner of items from all manner of sellers will get challenged in some form and mostly it's an educational process and that it's okay to ask questions. This one is intriguing if for no other reason than that it involves a store that closed almost 70 years ago.

After I thought about it, I realized that it should be no surprise that Army insignia was sold in this Navy town in WWII, if for no other reason than that San Diegans would buy them to have something worn by a loved one off to war (and for patch blankets :) ).

Instead of sending Donna a message, why don't you send the member in question a email.

Very easy to figure out as his forum name is airborne hunter.

So put away the torches and pitchforks and simply ask him a question.

Second time this question was asked. All my Wosk tagged patches are Marine ones and have the same type of tags shown in this thread.

Its my understanding that in the discussed auctions its mentioned by the Seller that the patches in question were purchased from the heirs/family members of the Wosk family. Wouldn't it make sense to ask the heir (Donna) if these patches look familiar or were purchased from her?

I can imagine it would be easy for an Administrator to determine a members E Bay name having the ability to access information that non administrators can't access. I'm not sure how us regular "grunts" on the Forum can do that.

There are members who state they apparently know this Seller is a Forum member and have defended his integrity. I think they should be the ones to contact him so he can defend himself. Or an Administrator.

Torches and Pitchforks? The original poster of this topic has taken the time to post this information in what seems to me to be a very concise and orderly manner, with evidence presented. Just about all the replies have been pretty neutral just presenting observations.

If a member sees some E Bay auctions that are questionable should that person contact the Seller for an explanation first, then post the topic on the Forum? Might be a appropriate topic for another thread.

I concur. I haven't seen any pitchforks thrown in this thread. The OP has every right to open up any discussion about insignia regardless if it is going to hurt the feelings of whoever is selling the items, if it a legitimate concern. There are no "safe spaces" in collecting. The individual selling the items has the opportunity to respond in kind on this thread, if he or she choses to do so. We cannot censor people who have legitimate questions about items being offered. In addition, not everybody knows who everybody is on this board, so you can't assume that people bringing up topics about E-Bay items knows whether or not those sellers are on this forum. Just my 2 cents......

There are some posts in here automatically calling out the seller and accusing him of putting the tags on himself. The first post alone does that.

There is no secret method that Mods and Admins know who everyone is, as we don't. But if you pay attention to different posts you learn who the forum names are as opposed to what their real names are. Plus we have a whole post on here to show your Ebay screen names. Plus many of us know who each other are by seeing them at shows and talking to people. It just takes a moment to actually think instead of accusing someone of having "magic powers" to know everything.

Lastly there are numerous posts on this thread showing every detail of what's wrong with each tag and staple, but again no one took the time to contact the seller. Instead, aspersions were cast that the seller was up to no good with his sales. There were also two posts ahead of mine telling everyone that the seller was a member here, but those were ignored just just point what was wrong with his sales.

There are also posts about contacting Donna, but again no one contacted the seller. Donna took her stuff, a couple of years ago, and dumped a very large portion of here items in a local San Diego auction house. There were literally boxes of insignia and accessories in these lots. Patches she wanted $100.00 each for were sold by the boxes for pennies on the dollars. Here stuff sold through this auction house for about four weeks straight. Numerous members here and other antique dealers in San Diego and Ebay sellers did very well buying up everything that was a available for a song.

She used to put out catalogs with lots of her stuff on it by mail. Someone may have a copy. Perhaps it listed non USN/USMC patches?

As for her selling USAAF insignia, I do know that I bought a Juarez service pilot from her years ago (it was listed on one of her catalogs). Also she did/does sell lots of airborne wings (including boxed AECo marked wings).

Here is a USSTAF insignia sold at the Wosk Army Navy Store with the attached tag for reference. Have had XII Tac Air CMD, CBI and a few others with & without the tags, but have never seen the airborne or the other Army insignia the sellers has for sale.

Patchcollector

Here is a 442nd RCT patch that was for sale earlier on eBay by the seller steviewonder2002.It was discussed in a prior thread and found to be a repro due to it not having the "tell" as described by tarbridge in post # 16 of that thread.

Here is a link to that discussion:
