ocsfollowme Posted October 16, 2016 #1 Posted October 16, 2016 Then fix them to patches! I asked Donna (met her late in the game in 2007, @ Starbucks) if she had any 101st patches. If I remember correctly she told me that she never did. All of these popped up on ebay yesterday. This first 101st even has threads attached to the patch along with the price tag
warcollect1942 Posted October 16, 2016 #10 Posted October 16, 2016 All I remember her selling is marine and navy. They were located in San Diego. Close to the navy docks and south of Pendleton.

warroom1 Posted October 16, 2016 #12 Posted October 16, 2016 maybe this makes worth more, not !!!!!LOL
PATCHRAT Posted October 16, 2016 #13 Posted October 16, 2016 SOOO this guys is lying?? listed by steviewonder2002 from one of the listing "Thru a recent deal I bought all the remaining stock from the family / heirs of the owner Harry S Wosk.Included were some one of a kind and very limited supply items. Some even came out of the personal collection of the family from the store The supplies are limited but there are a lot of patches which I will list as time permits."
Bob Hudson Posted October 16, 2016 #14 Posted October 16, 2016 For those wondering why we still discuss a store that closed in 1947, check out site:usmilitariaforum.com donna wosk
Patchcollector Posted October 16, 2016 #15 Posted October 16, 2016 Lot's of excess threading on the edges of some of those.I'm wondering if some of the patches themselves are authentic. BTW,not saying the patch in post # 1 is authentic, but I've seen a photo of a real uniform removed patch that still had the tag attached!
Patchcollector Posted October 16, 2016 #16 Posted October 16, 2016 In Patchrats' post of the sellers' description, the seller states "there are a lot of patches I will be listing". So another question that comes to mind is;are the tags real?If so,where did the seller get "alot" of them?

ocsfollowme Posted October 16, 2016 Author #18 Posted October 16, 2016 The tags are real. Almost any SSI that was USMC was at least $.35-45 cents so an Army SSI patch would have been the same price. The only Army patches that I remember seeing were Coastal Artillery Defense patches, the Alaska Defense Command, Training Commands, the Coastal E patch, and some other ones. For the $.25 tags I think those are from other patches that were moved to these Army SSIs. I do not remember seeing any Army Divisional patches in 2007 when I met her with her binders at Starbucks.
warcollect1942 Posted October 16, 2016 #19 Posted October 16, 2016 The tags are real, but you can see the staples are bent. The way she listed some of the patches was confusing. I bought what I though was one but I got 20. I have bought from this guy before and did not have any problems. I don't know why he is trying this. The tag doesn't make any difference on price.
tredhed2 Posted October 16, 2016 #20 Posted October 16, 2016 Seller is a member here with a sterling reputation for honesty and a knowledge surpassing many. Instead of pussyfooting around behind his back, why not send him a message and let him know about your opinions or this discussion? Then include a response, if any?
ocsfollowme Posted October 16, 2016 Author #21 Posted October 16, 2016 There is actually a cipher to understanding their tags. MR is for Marines and NR is for Navy. They kept the same codes on their patches so you can actually look up to what patch the tag actually went too. Coming up with a list of the ciphers would be project to do sometime if I had time. The 6th Marine Division was known as "7MR6" or just "MR6." The 11th Airborne patch has that tag on it.
ocsfollowme Posted October 16, 2016 Author #23 Posted October 16, 2016 MR7 is the Marine 1st Airwing. That is on the Ranger patch.

The thing about paper items is that, especially now in our "digital" era, anything paper based can be easily replicated. The tags are real, but you can see the staples are bent. The way she listed some of the patches was confusing. I bought what I though was one but I got 20. I have bought from this guy before and did not have any problems. I don't know why he is trying this. The tag doesn't make any difference on price. IMO patches and other Militaria items that still have the original tags,boxing,paperwork,etc.. do command a higher price.
ocsfollowme Posted October 16, 2016 Author #25 Posted October 16, 2016 MR15 is the small Raider shirt patch. MR15A is the Raider SSI
