Edward Gillette Hagen was born in Hoboken, NJ in 1893. He was a Naval Academy graduate, Class of 1917. He served with the Marine Corps almost 30 years. Thanks to Mark, I finally got his service record. post-7989-0-24281700-1475868334.jpg

Upon graduation he received his commission, and assigned to the USA Arkansas. After a time at Fort Crockett, Texas he was sent to France with the 11th Regiment.

From 1919-1940, Edward served in Haiti, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. He was also sent to China to study the Chinese language, eventually becoming an attaché to the Chinese Legation.

That's a great find! Are you going to restore his ribbon rack how it looked during WWII or leave it as they look right now?

Lt. Col. Hagen served with the 11th Marines during the Guadalcanal campaign. Due to heavy shelling, he was evacuated late 1942.
