ludwigh1980 Posted October 6, 2016 Share #32 Posted October 6, 2016 Love these old shed/barn find ww1 helmet. I used to blow the dust off with compressed air that you use for your computer, however it has been determined that the white paper panel in the top of the lining is asbestos ( Imperial War Museum in the UK verified that ) which has severely impacted the sale of WW1 US and British Brodie helmets in the UK. When ever I get a WW1 helmet, I place it in a glass display case and leave it alone.

nchistory Posted October 6, 2016 Author Share #37 Posted October 6, 2016 Pulled chin strap buckle back looks like 2 more letters. Swear that looks like a 105, Oscar Gregorson did serve in the 105, 37th Division, but doubt a 37th would be wearing a 1st Division helmet?
Government Issue Posted October 7, 2016 Share #38 Posted October 7, 2016 I'm seeing A L L O S I which if it's a name sounds Italian? I'd go with seeing if you can determine anything about the wife's relatives. Really great helmet though, especially surviving in a barn for that long!
