Model/Pattern 1892 shelter half...

Recommended Posts

While I do not have an original in my collection, I do have the following specs from the book "Uniforms, Arms, and Equipment: Weapons and Accouterments" by Douglas C. McChristian, University of Oklahoma Press, 2007.

Was there a later SpanAm pattern? I have one brought home by a member of the 13th Minnesota in his Manila made footlocker stuffed with equipment and souvenirs. David Allen, whose name is on the tent half, enlisted in 1898 and was discharged in 1899. One of the two piece poles with sheet iron ferrule was also in the trunk.

It conforms pretty much to the 1892 specifications, but has brass grommets rather than worked grommets, and most of the buttons are also brass. It does have the triangular end piece.
