Vietnam made F/79th ARA Blue max patch, thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Was wondering on thoughts on this patch, looks good to me but thought I'd get some expert opinions. It has a OD green burlap backing, the sides are folded over and looks machine sewn by hand. Thanks

Nothing wrong with it. The green burlap usually signifies it was made later in the war.

F/79 was raised in June of 1971. The green burlap or sandbag material began appearing in the same year. Many units associated with the 1st Cav's 3rd Brigade feature this material as backing. I think it's probably traceable to a maker near Bien Hoa.

Great patch,I like them with that backing

High Flight

Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth

And danced the skies on laughter-silver wings;

Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth

Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things

You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung

High in the sunlit silence. Hovering there

I've chased the shouting wind along and flung

My eager craft through footless halls of air.

Up, up the long delirious, burning blue

I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,

where never lark, or even eagle flew;

and while, with silent, lifting mind I've trod

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,

Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
