Sorry for some of the poor quality pictures. I was only using my camera phone and some were hard to get behind the glass.

Here are some pictures of a very early AF unit in Vietnam.

If you notice, on the one flight jacket tag it has, HQ ATC (Air Training Command ).

Patchcollector

The patch on the left side of the uniform and the ballcap is for the South Vietnamese Air Force (VNAF) 43rd Air Transport Group.This is the unit that the USAF personnel were first attached to as advisors and co-pilots.The 43rd patch is tougher to find that a "Dirty Thirty" patch.

 

I was fortunate to acquire a 43rd and a "Dirty Thirty" patch that are named to the Pilot that originally owned them.
