When I first got this I thought it was theater made. Then I found it in an issue of the TRADING POST. It is actually U.S. made. This unit would later become the 899th TD BN.

99th AT Bn, not 9th. Very nice to have.

 

Yes. Thank you. I typed '99th' but for some reason my phone auto corrected it as '9th'. I assume the initials are from the original owner. I wonder if he was with the 899th in Africa, D-day, & Germany?

Oh I figured it was a typo. The 899th took a lot of casualties. I think it's safe to say that since it's a U.S. made piece, he got it here and it went to N. Africa with him.

Very nice item.

The 899th has a very interesting service record.

Thank you guys. Erwin you're right about their service record. I have an original unit history for the 899th.One member was awarded the MoH.
