gwb123 Posted August 29, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 29, 2016 Now that is something you do not see everyday! I generally avoid collecting things that can shatter and break, but that would be a keeper.
aerialbridge Posted August 29, 2016 Author Share #3 Posted August 29, 2016 Thanks, GWB-- it cost less than a large coffee at Starbucks. And I was kidding about it being my regular coffee cup. Here's the hallmark- "Minh Long I". Must have been tough starting a china factory in Vietnam in 1970. http://www.minhlong.com/en/content/3/about-us/
Patchcollector Posted August 29, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 29, 2016 Saigon was renamed Ho Chi Minh City after the war,so this would be a postwar made item
Longbranch Posted August 29, 2016 Share #5 Posted August 29, 2016 Just to add, this cup is likely a fairly recently manufactured item. The US Consulate General building in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) was constructed around 1998 right next to site of the old US Embassy building as used throughout the Vietnam War. The old embassy building was torn down in 1998, and the US Consulate built next to that site shortly afterwards.
