MattS Posted August 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 25, 2016 This was another of the photos I picked up today. From what I've found, this Canberra was probably assigned to the 172nd Tactical Recon Squadron, 110th Tac Recon Group out of Battle Creek. It looks like a rough landing! MattS Posted August 26, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted August 26, 2016 I've used a magnifying glass and it looks like the side says "AFNG SERIAL NO. 52-1483N". Did AFNG planes in the 50s get "N" added to their USAF serials? The number 52-1483 falls into the production run of Martin RB-57As (52-1426 to 52-1492), but according to Joe Baugher's site, 52-1483 was written off on 4/23/55. http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_serials/1952.html Plus, the Michigan Air Guard didn't start flying them until 1957 according to Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/172d_Air_Support_Squadron Any ideas? MattS Posted August 26, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted August 26, 2016 Maybe it is 52-1468, it's not real clear but that would make sense.
