Salvage Sailor Posted August 14, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2016 Aloha Everyone, Please feel free to post examples of US Navy shooting team patches and items from your collections. During the 1950's and 1960's the USN sponsored many Rifle, Pistol and Marksmanship teams in fleet and shore competitions. They were primarily aboard large gun cruisers and carriers afloat, and in the naval districts, bases and shipyards ashore. The competitions were also interservice and invitational meets with rival gun clubs in the US and overseas. So if you've got them in your collections, post them here Korean War era 1950's 6" round U.S. NAVY PISTOL TEAM

td-seeker Posted August 19, 2016 Share #24 Posted August 19, 2016 Nice Navy shooting team and club patches. I particularly like the YANK Rod & Gun Club patch as I'm documenting and collecting items from the US military rod and gun clubs that were in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Do you have any idea when the YANK patch was in use? Paul
Salvage Sailor Posted August 19, 2016 Author Share #25 Posted August 19, 2016 Aloha Paul, I don't have any history on the patch but I'd say early 1960's from the construction. The station was designated 'NAVCOMSTA' in 1961 according to the association's history. The best place to garner comments on this patch would be here http://navcommsta-londonderry.freeservers.com/index.html ....and here's the patch on their association website http://navcommsta-londonderry.freeservers.com/jvs293.htm
