McDermut99 Posted August 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 12, 2016 That type of tank insignia I believe was used for a period of time (pre-WWII) as the uniform insignia for armoured forces. However that pin doesn't look to be for a uniform, more like for a sweetheart or to be worn while in civilian clothing. The ship pin looks to be just a civilian pin made to show one's service. Salvage Sailor Posted August 12, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 12, 2016 That's an M3 Lee Tank (WWII) and a US Destroyer pin Edit: I should add that Mc Dermutt correctly posted while I was typing, it's a veteran pin, not official
firefighter Posted August 12, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted August 12, 2016 Cool. Thank you guys. Appreciate it. Sailor I don't see a number on the bow, so a generic DD? So both are probably sweetheart pins?
Salvage Sailor Posted August 12, 2016 Share #5 Posted August 12, 2016 I believe the DE/DD pin is from the Tin Can Sailors association, which also came in a clip on tie tack version
flyboy53 Posted August 12, 2016 Share #6 Posted August 12, 2016 Ship pin looks an awful lot like the side view of my wife's late father's ship, the USS Walter S. Brown --- a destroyer escort.
Salvage Sailor Posted August 12, 2016 Share #7 Posted August 12, 2016 Yep, they were patterned after a DE hull design
