Painted A-2 Jacket With 2 Names Help

This A-2 jacket came from the family of the man on the name tag.

 

But inside the jacket is another name.

 

Who is the second guy?

 

He was in the Bloody 100th but I can't find out anything on him.

You can see that the painting on the back was painted over something else.

The name inside the jacket.

 

This man was the original owner of the jacket.

 

I wonder how it might have exchanged hands.

Lots of A-2 jackets were re-issued from mid to late war. It's not uncommon at all to have a jacket named to 2 different guys. In some groups, after a guy finished his tour, he was asked to turn in his A-2 jacket. After which, if it needed repairs of any kind, it went through the AAF depot. Then it was released for issue to another guy. More than likely that is what happened here.

On a side note, many guys did not want to turn their jacket in after completing their missions and would claim the jacket as lost or stolen only to have it magically turn back up when they got home! haha
