After Korea this veteran had assignments at Ft Bliss and a tour in Vietnam from June 1963 - July 1966. He served as an advisor in Phu- Cat.

Upon his return from Vietnam he was interviewed by the Austin Statesman.

In 1968 he transitioned to the Air Defense Artillery. I believe he was in the first group of field grade officers to make the transition to the Air Defense Artillery.

My father is / was Earl J. Lochhead; I couldn't be more proud to this day of his accomplishments. He not only was a hero to me but my best friend.....and I still break-down every time I read this post. My father was truly a West Pointer, in that, believing in truth, duty & honor was the way he lived his life. He was a professional soldier that found time to be a loving DAD.

The grouping you see is a small part of the story and meant to keep his memory alive for another generation. I am grateful to WahooMan for his work and diligence in putting this together. He too is special in many ways and continues to amaze me with his brilliance.

It's hard to believe but it's almost 18 years since my father, LTC EJ Lochhead, left us in 2007. I wish I could ask him more questions about his service. He, like many veterans, was quiet about life in the Army.
