IDENTIFICATION

Hello
I found in a farm in Normandy near the village of Boutteville, just behind the beach of Utah Beach 6 big parts of plane.
Can you help me to identify thems with planes they come ?

The Waco CG-4A glider was fabric covered on mostly plywood framing and honeycomb wood supports. There was some aluminum and steel for strength in interior of wings. This is aluminum skinned and framed. Probably a prop plane. Looks like parts of invasion stripes. C-47?? I welcome opposing assessments.

from the size of the USAAF roundel, it looks to be too small for a B-17 or other heavy bomber..

and the red outline was most likely factory paint...good stuff...if this plane flew on post Sept 1943 the outline was painted over in the field...in haste, and maybe just one coat...point is after 70 years of being in the elements, the top layer could have eroded away ..

 

I am thinking a plane smaller than a 4 engine bomber..

I found the part Number 4 ,it is a C47 wings

the parts size is 38 cm X 130 cm

 

 

For those who measure in inches, this is about 14 inches by 51 inches :)

Great job....now we know what type of plane it is from.......maybe we can figure out exactly which C-47 is it from ?
