triplecanopy Posted August 4, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 4, 2016 The Charles R. Robbins Company was located in Attleboro, Ma as far back as the late 1890's. They made military insignia up until the early 1960's. Below I will post some example of their hallmark. The most common found is a "flying R" inside a rectangle. Shown here are the basic and master parachutist badges with the "flying R" hallmark. These examples are both pinback and marked sterling. C.R Robbins also used other markings and I will post those later.
triplecanopy Posted August 4, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted August 4, 2016 Here are two other examples of the C.R. Robbins maker's marks. The earliest is the pin back with the Robbins CO Attleboro MA STERLING that I believe was used on WWII wings and badges. Some of the other wing collectors can confirm (or deny) that if you wish to comment. The other photo is of what I believe is the last hallmark used by this company (on parachute badges) It is a clutchback basic parachutist badge with just the markings: ROBBINS CO and STERLING. I have only found the Basic wings using this hallmark. There may be senior and master's out there, but I have yet to see them. Wing and Badge collectors please add your input. Tonomachi Posted August 4, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 4, 2016 Here is the post war Robbins basic paratrooper wing that you spoke of which is clutch back.
Tonomachi Posted August 4, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 4, 2016 I initially thought the winged "R" in the recessed box was a WW2 era piece until I came across this Army Pilot Wing which was not designed until after WW2. So the ROBBINS CO ATTLEBORO MA STERLING hallmarked basic paratrooper wing is probably the WW2 era piece which are hard to come by and I have never seen one in senior of master.
