Hello.

My grandfather was a pattern maker. He helped design aircraft components and prototypes for aeronautical companies via contracting. He’d make a wood pattern. The wood pattern would be used to make a metal cast. From the metal cast came the prototype plastic airplane yoke. He left me a set of them. Pictured is the wood pattern and metal cast that led to the creation of the DC-8 Yoke. It was originally designed for a USAF bird, however Douglas lost the competition for that contract and so converted it into a civilian craft. I thought you’d all enjoy seeing them!
