Morlok Posted July 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2016 Some of you have probably read my posts in the past about my Uncle... Well, he stopped by about an hour ago, and dropped off this load. He said "keep it, sell it, do what you want...I don't need it taking up space"!! Gonna take a few days to get to it, but I'm sure I'll find some good stuff in here!! The Meatcan Posted July 19, 2016 Share #20 Posted July 19, 2016 This will be an exciting thread to follow. What does your uncle think about his fan club here on The Forum? Terry
Morlok Posted July 19, 2016 Author Share #21 Posted July 19, 2016 Well, I went through the rest... Unfortunately, the majority of the contents were completely soaked & covered in mold. Most of it was old Canadian gear. I did end up with the camo vests pictured above, 2 brand new USMC helmet sweatbands, a pilots anti-exposure "dry suit" type coveralls, several Vietnam-era canteen covers, lots of Alice(?) clips, some strange looking US equipment belts from the early 80s, & a bunch of misc pouches... I'll try to get photos of everything, but it will likely be next weekend... Pretty much all of this stuff will be posted for free on here at some point...(except for shipping!)...so stay tuned!! sgtpeter Posted July 20, 2016 Share #23 Posted July 20, 2016 The 1942 footlocker by itself is worth the wait. The shipping alone on one from the 'bay would take the fun out of this hobby. I don't know how much interest there is in the LBV, but I think they represent an important transition piece between the LC-1 gear in use until the early 1990s and the MOLLE gear that everyone associates with the modern war on terror. The best part is always the anticipation of the simple treasures to be found. Any of the ammo pouches have magazines? Great stuff Morlock
Ronnie Posted July 20, 2016 Share #24 Posted July 20, 2016 Where can I get an Uncle like that?
taucco Posted July 21, 2016 Share #25 Posted July 21, 2016 image.jpeg this is the experimental LBV colloquially referred as "2nd pattern". I see also nice woodland ammunition pouches shaped like the lbv one, probably from some experimental modular vest.
