CNY Militaria Posted July 14, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2016 Neat group I just picked up from an Army Lt. Col. in the Philippines area, including a piece of a Japanese Zero that he mentions in the letter he cut off the wing of a downed aircraft (see bottom of the letter shown). He also talks about a helmet he took from a POW that he intends to mail home, although I have no idea where that is now! His name is hard to decipher, but from the letter he spent time in Leyte, Hollandia, and other places. Still working with the seller to get more info on the officer. JDK Posted July 14, 2016 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2016 Very cool! That's a pretty good size piece of plane. Normally they are quite a bit smaller. JD
Bugme Posted July 14, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 14, 2016 Very neat Justin. I'm sure you already know this but He was likely in the Philippines also. Some of the currency is Japanese Philippine occupation currency.
CNY Militaria Posted July 14, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted July 14, 2016 Thanks for all the comments! He was in the Philippines as well, he talks about it in another part of his six page letter. This Free Philippines newspaper also came with the group.
