Aging a helmet cover

I was wondering what methods people like to use for aging their helmet covers, I plan on aging my repo Mitchell pattern cover for that "been there" look and was wondering what is the best way to go about that. Thank you,

How's the helmet looking Gtilk8455? Any pics? Just received my repro VN helmet from Moore Militaria and have been working on aging it. (Doesn't look much different.) Figure wearing it around in the sun and elements will contribute with time.

rub red dirt into the material to stain it, put it on the helmet let it get wet, so the red dirt absorbs into the material and the helmet cover molds itself to the shell to make it look like it's been worn in the field for a while, lay the helmet on the ground, let it rub in the dirt to make the sharp edges wear or get frayed

use a tree branch and whip the helmet numerous times to simulate many jungle patrols through thick vegetation, leave it outside in your backyard so the humidity and elements fade the colors.
