My Funky Little War Room

Recommended Posts

Small but it's mine. Here is a little video of my place. I have much more stuff. Just no where to put it. My office is much bigger than this spare bedroom and I have lots of stuff displayed there. My collection is kinda everywhere. I have posted photos before but this is an experimental video.

Uh... Ronnie. I think you forgot something...

Gov issue got it....he wins a cookie. I did say it was experimental. And the experiment failed. Sorry guys I have been working on this since it posted and I can't get it shrunk down to size. Oh btw way I told my wife I was having this problem...not being able to get it shrunk down to size. She said that shouldn't be a problem for you. She has more faith in my computer skills than I do. At least that's what I thought she was talking about.

I'll try again.

Sorry fellers.

Hah thank you David and gov issue. David there is no title. I tried to figure out how to post it to YouTube but couldn't pull it off. You guys are great but my little display isn't worth the worry. I'm grateful you all are interested and I will take some photos and post them instead.

Thanks again for your interest and help.

Ronnie

Since I can't post a video I have taken a few photos and downloaded them. Much of this has been shown in one place or another but maybe not with the detail off these photos.

Here are a few at a time.

The first photo is a few of my helmets. The single helmet posted is a fixed bail OD #3 as new out of the box and I mean that literally. A friend of mine and a member of our club in Memphis is a US Air Pilot. Fly's all over the states. While on a trip bout 20 years ago maybe longer he found a crate of M1 Helmets at a Goodwill Store in LA. He was not a collector of helmets but often found stuff and called a friend of ours who had a surplus store in the Memphis area. He would tell him either buy the stuff and he would pay him when he got home. The store owner called me. Told me he had a crate of helmets coming in. I think there were 60 in the box. I got my pick of four. I chose two Fixed bail and two swivel bail....1 swivel bail with OD #7 and 1 with OD #3. Of course both fixed bails were #3. I have both the fixed bails still and one swivel bail. Sold one swivel bail in Indianapolis at the MAX Show in 07 I think. At any rate her are the two fixed bails. I discarded the thick cardboard paper that separated the helmets in the box and regret having done that.

Enjoy.

Three of a kind, sort of.

2nd Louie, 1st Louie, Captain. All fixed bails. The 2nd Louie has a Hawley and this rig came directly from the Vet. The 1st Louie and Captain helmet both have Inland liners and are 100% straight up.

This is a neat little movie prop....early movie prop. Before rubber stuff. This is a pot metal M3 Trench knife. I had a M1 Garand Bayonet in Pot metal just like this piece but sold it a good while back.

Some more stuff.

Many of you here probably know Juan Gonzalez of WWII Impressions. Truly one of the gems of this hobby. As fine of a guy as you will ever meet. My association with Juan goes back to 1993 when referred to him while looking for some type of uniform to wear to the 50 Anniversay of D Day. At any rate years went by before I actually met Juan face to face and am lucky to call him a friend. I was given this Dietz print of the 505 holding the line at the Battle of the Bulge. Juan's re-enactment group posed for the pix. He told me he was the guy on the tank facing away fro. The camera so to speak but looking back this way. If you know Juan you will easily recognize him. It is uncanny how well Dietz got him looking like him! Oh and if you need some good quality repro gear and the best service around....call him. Anyway here is a picture as best I could do. I also have the Dietz print of the 05 in Ste. Mere Eglise.

Mo stuff!

The Musette bag drawer has about half dozen bags in it....I don't know why. The one on top is perfectly mint.

The map case or dispatch bag is kinda rare I think.
