Indian War Field Artillery Coats

Rather than hijack an earlier thread on the 1885 pattern field artillery (aka mounted or light artillery) coats, I thought I would post two for general interest that passed through my hands recently. One is a private's coat with a Schuylkill Arsenal marking and the other is a trumpeter's coat with no marking visible. It was not mentioned specifically in the earlier thread, but what makes them scarce is that from 1866 to the beginning of the Spanish American War there were only five regular regiments of artillery and only two batteries from each were designated as light or field artillery, the remainder being heavy artillery assigned to fortifications.

Anyway, here is the front of the private's coat.post-151665-0-52598300-1466611794.jpg

Here's the reverse of the private's coat showing the "W" shaped placket that marks it as a mounted coat.

Lastly, the reverse of the trumpeter's coat. It's especially scarce, of course, because only two trumpeters were allocated per battery.
