equitis Posted June 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 19, 2016 I spotted this unusual M-1956 entrenching tool cover on UK Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162109825811?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The hanger tab for the bayonet scabbard has been modified with the addition of a webbing strap. I was just wondering what the purpose of such a modification could be as I've seen many of the standard cover but nothing that looked like this. Keystone Posted June 20, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 20, 2016 I've never seen that one before. I'm not sure what the purpose of the strap would be. Interesting. My guess would be a modification for a foreign military use. Tim
luft Posted June 20, 2016 Share #3 Posted June 20, 2016 Same as Tim. Have during past 10/15 years have in my hands and collection, a lot of Vn gear, but never came across something like that in my researches, very odd modification. My 2 cents on it,with this modification, you can wore and secure on your e-tool cover a SLR L1A1 bayonet with his frog. T
Rolf Posted June 21, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2016 Possibly modified so the soldier could attach a knife that didn't have a wire hanger
