agate hunter Posted June 18, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 18, 2016 Hey everyone, just got this group of Vietnam medals. I was wondering if they were foreign made. After comparing them to the US and Vietnamese made medals I have they don't look like either of them. Maybe Japanese made? Thanks for any info. 12thengr Posted June 18, 2016 Share #3 Posted June 18, 2016 Wow! Those are different. The ribbons on the first 3 look longer than normal.

MastersMate Posted June 19, 2016 Share #6 Posted June 19, 2016 The NDSM, VSM and the VN Campaign medal all have the appearance of the 'off the shel'f, 'street vendor type' that were sold up and down Magsaysay Drive in Subic Bay, 1968. Bought a ready mounted set for a couple of bucks. The metal pendants all had that grainy, sand blaster texture.. Did not rate the Expeditionary Medal They worked in a pinch while waiting for the service issued medals to make it onto the crew mess table. These were already pre mounted.. 11-Bull Posted June 23, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 23, 2016 Japanese made versions of these US medals typically had the "ball" type suspender as shown in your picture. Japanese made would be correct. The coarser ribbons on them are appropriate for these medals. Dave
