Waltz41 Posted June 16, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2016 Another show in the books! Always a great time, even with mother nature not cooperating 100%, although we did luck out with not as much rain as they were predicting. Big bummer though, was the P-38 and Bf-109 being no shows, along with 4 or 5 other aircraft. The P-38 apparently had the pilot get sick and there was no backup pilot ready to bring it, and not sure about the 109. The Mosquito though did make the trip, along with a Spitfire from MAM in Virginia Beach, but the Spitfire only flew on Friday. Here's some photos I took. 506th Fighter Group Historian Interested in all items relating to the 7th AAF, especially those of the VLR P-51 Pilots of the 15th, 21st, and 506th Fighter Groups. Waltz41 Posted June 18, 2016 Author Share #22 Posted June 18, 2016 Thank you everyone for the kind words and taking a look. Dave, we saw so many reeanctors pull out late Saturday early Sunday. By about 1 pm on Sunday, I swear half of them were gone. Of course we lucked out with no rain....untill literally 20 min left of our tear down when we got destroyed by that storm that came through. It hit the airport around 4:30-5 I think. The rain was slapping me so hard in the face it hurt! 506th Fighter Group Historian Interested in all items relating to the 7th AAF, especially those of the VLR P-51 Pilots of the 15th, 21st, and 506th Fighter Groups. STG44 Posted July 11, 2016 Share #25 Posted July 11, 2016 Great pictures. I was there all day on Friday. The weather was lousy but it could have been worse. We still had a great time as usual. Here's a picture I took of a WWII 101st Airborne vet in the passenger seat of a Jeep. He was pretty popular with the ladies.
