ptdockyard Posted May 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2016 Hi everyone! Thanks for letting me in! I have what I hope is not a stumper as my first post. Here are examples of stars on US vehicles that look like they are reversed with the star OD and the circle either white or light blue. The example on the Sherman is on the side of the turret: Has anyone seen any other examples of this? Does anyone know why this was done? It looks like someone had the wrong part of the stencil. Thanks! Dave G
hbtcoveralls Posted May 25, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2016 There was a short time when you started seeing this happen due to a mis-interpretation of the regulations. Basically, ETOUSA ordered that Vesicant Gas detecting paint be painted in the areas of void around the star. The original order did not however specify if the star should be stenciled,so some commands took that to mean that the white star was deleted, but the gas detecting paint was specified. The order was clarified but you do see these stars occasionally Tom Bowers
