VMI88 Posted May 20, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 20, 2016 I just picked up this beautiful patch for VF-831: The squadron was assigned to the USS Antietam -- part of Task Force 77 -- off the coast of Korea between November 1951 and March 1952. This appears to be a period Japanese made patch from that deployment.

northcoastaero Posted May 21, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 21, 2016 Nice patch. VF-831 flew the Grumman F9F-2B Panther at this time.
KurtA Posted May 21, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 21, 2016 I wonder how many different Task Force 77 patches there are? Would make for a nice collection. All I have seen thus far are for ships. This is the first fighter squadron I've seen.
Militiaman Posted June 8, 2016 Share #7 Posted June 8, 2016 Very nice patch. My grandfather flew with VF-831 at this time. I have some shots of this patch in wear, here, at the end of this thread. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/210078-a-little-group-to-a-usn-photographer-need-patch-id/ If you ever decide to turn that patch loose, please give me a shot at it. Kind regards, Rob.
