CGF TC-2000 Camo Painted Helmet, probably NSW used

I found this today, its an 2001 dated CGF TC-2000 with 3 color desert (I know it didn't show good in the pics but its tan/light brown/dark brown) and has its original chin strap and older Oregon arrow pads. the mount and arm were missing but I had the right mount and arm so I put them back on. it was originally painted with the mount and arm installed and from the void in the camo I can say it was most likely the same as what I have on it now. this was probably an NSW used helmet for obvious reasons.

Very nice early CGF MICH, congrats. That Patent Pending label was a very short term used, much less seen type overall on the CGF helmets.

very nice.

are you sure that it had a wilcox shroud and not a norotos one? looks like the paint shape is slightly different.

this is the CGF helmet without a mount and the other picture is of another 3 hole helmet I have that has a norotos shroud.

Ben,

I would agree with you that this one had an early Wilcox GO1 bracket and was most likely a SEAL/NSW used piece as Wilcox worked with NSW in developing the GO1 and it was heavily used by them before the Norotos Shroud entered service. Think yours was probably painted with the mount in place which left the original factory Camouflage Green #483 in the center which could easily confuse.

Here are a couple DoD photos of a SEAL exercise in an "unnamed" Middle East country in 2002 showing examples of both tan and black painted MICH's. Look closely and you can see that some were painted with and without the mount in place before field painting over the bracket -

These were repainted regularly. Hope you don't mind but here is an example in my collection to also go along with yours to show others interested. Originally painted a grey or light tan, it was reshot very quickly in black, along with a photo in addition to the one above without the bracket from a 2003 SEAL VBSS exercise showing the same lighter reshoot of black. Produced in the same period, mine also has the lesser seen "Patent Pending" label just like yours.

Once again, congrats on your find, and thanks for showing. Only the second one of these with the label mentioned that I have seen.

thanks Arch, its funny. I went by that one shop here I mentioned and it was just sitting there.

Patience and perseverance pays off eventually. Good piece.

well the plate and mount not being camo was really bugging me and as I don't plan to part with this helmet I went ahead and painted the plate and mount to match. I didn't do anything the helmet its self and the paint I used will come right off with graffiti remover and compressed air so no damage to the plate and mount either. obviously should I part with the helmet in the future I would remove the paint to avoid anyone getting taken by it down the line.
