I recently completed a project to take an original WWII US vehicle first aid kit (a 12-unit type) and fill it with modern, usable first aid supplies that can be used at an event, but that was also "period" to WWII.

I removed the original boxes (which were still filled), made reproduction boxes and purchased new, modern supplies to put in the boxes.

Pac-kit is a brand of first aid supplies which are still packaged in the same size boxes as the original WWII contractors used. You can find many of the Pac-kit first aid supplies at Amazon.com.

A person could purchase the desired Pac-kit supplies and leave them in the modern packaging. Or purchase reproduction boxes and place the new supplies in the repro boxes.

I don't re-enact but this is an excellent idea, well done, and adds that bit of extra safety to each event without compromising anything. Good going.
