northcoastaero Posted May 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 8, 2016 The following is a link to the NAS Memphis / Millington wikipedia.org page. Maybe the patch is from a training squadron? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millington_Regional_Jetport
firefighter Posted May 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 8, 2016 I think its Boy Scout. http://thisoldpatch.blogspot.com/2011/04/1956-region-v-explorer-air-encampment.html
gwb123 Posted May 9, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2016 That was my thought as soon as I read the word "encampment". The military and the Boy Scouts have had a long working relationship. I remember touring a Nike missile site with my cub scout troop and watching them track air traffic over Philadelphia on a radar screen. As a Boy Scout, our troop was invited to spend a weekend on a Naval Reserve mine sweeper. A lot of former Boy Scouts later went into the military.
