Indian Wars Mounted Artillery Tunic?

Hello everyone--I've branched out a little further than helmets and just purchased this tunic. The seller told me it was a m1882 (which I am not tracking) mounted artillery tunic. 1872 and 1885 I am aware of, but not incredibly familiar with...so, I am hoping someone here with a little more experience can help me out as I am allowed a 10 day inspection period. I'd really appreciate any help you call can provide. I have no doubt it is genuine of the time period, but I am concerned it could be militia?

So, after I rushed to purchase it, here are my questions:

1. The quartermaster stamp is for 1896, well after the introduction of the 1885 dress coat.

2. There are no color button areas on the sleeve as I am used to seeing.

Original M1885 full dress coat for heavy artillery, not mounted. unfortunately the cuff panels have been removed. The M1885 artillery coats were worn past 1902 when the new uniforms were adopted, by Coastal Artillery units. Light artillery coats (mounted) had larger tail panels, identical to the M-1887 Cavalry coats.

What a shame. Very well, I have canceled the order. Only the mounted uniforms interest me. Oh well, thank you for the assistance. I really appreciate it.

They are not seamed into the body of the sleeve, they are just machine stitched on. Remove the buttons and the stitches and they come right off.

Here is a link to my M-1885 Mounted uniform. The coat, trousers, and sack coat (not pictured) as well as campaign medals came from a light artilleryman that served in the Philippines during the insurrection. The helmet is original with repro cords. Even the trousers are mounted with re-enforced seat.
