cmaher55 Posted April 10, 2016 #51 Posted April 10, 2016 Nice pick up at a good price, way to stay on top of those auctions. Your pics are better than the add on ebay. You won't lose money on that one if you go to sell, which I don't think you should, it's a keeper. Once every year or two I get a great helmet on a buyitnow late at night.... Picked up a great M40 Normandy Camo 6 months ago at a great price.... Regards, Chris

I can't believe how nice the helmet is. The straps are super crisp.

1972firebird Posted April 11, 2016 #61 Posted April 11, 2016 Nice helmet and gear, I like how you are able to find info on the vet and have a story to go by. I am still searching for a helmet grouping with info on the vet.

BEAST Posted April 11, 2016 #65 Posted April 11, 2016 Great looking group! I have a jumper from a Corpsman who was with Foxy29 ( http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/120910-phm1c-charles-l-borkes/?hl=borkes ). For such an interesting group, there is very little written on them. The one book that I have seen, but not read yet is "Foxy 29" From the sea - Came Hero's ( (http://www.amazon.com/Foxy-29-From-sea-Heros/dp/0966597311)

Hopefully I will learn more about their experience.

TheGrayGhost Posted April 12, 2016 #69 Posted April 12, 2016 I'm glad to see you were able to pick this group up, it is fantastic. I remember seeing this when you were asking about it the first time. The name difference and poor pictures made me hesitate as well. Man, did I lose out. Congratulation on a great find!

I was a little confused too but a fellow member mentioned that it was not uncommon for stencils to be misspelled. I am very happy with the grouping. It does not fall in my main interest but for some reason it speaks to me. I would love to find a photo of the sailor.
1972firebird Posted April 13, 2016 #71 Posted April 13, 2016 I agree if i found a lid with a photo of the soldier wearing it that would be an awesome addition to my collection
sgtdorango Posted April 23, 2016 #73 Posted April 23, 2016 Wow, talk about air tight rock solid 100% provenance....dang cool......mike
