This is Bucha's Format #6. His medal was presented on 14 May 1970.

Note the (ABN) and the inclusion of the brigade.

Great thread.

Do you know where the Bucha medal is located?

There are three Medals of Honor on display at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, FL. One of them is attributed to Paul Bucha. I am guessing it is a display copy.

Excellent question. I do not know. Bucha is, of course, still alive so I am going to guess that this is not "his" official MOH. As a retired officer and president of the CMOHS it would not have been difficult for him to obtain another MOH to donate. It is also possible the hall obtained their own medal, too. I would have thought McCampbell's original medal would have remained with his family. It would be possible to contact Bucha vi the CMOHS and ask if he donated a medal. One could also contact the hall, too.

It is my understanding that Cann's medal is the original. Cann's story is very interesting, too.

Cann's medal is the original. It was donated by his family. It took me a while to track it down. I was trying to determine if Tedford Cann was a Tiffany Cross recipient.

I stumbled onto the info about his induction into the International Swimming Hall of Fame. I took a long shot and asked the museum curator if she knew where Tedford Cann's Medal of Honor was located?

She surprised me when she replied "Hanging on the wall in our Hall of Fame". She was kind enough to take a photo of it. That is when I learned that there were two more Medals of Honor on display at the ISHOF. I visited the ISHOF while I was in south Florida, and got a good look at these Medals of Honor.

MOHs turn up in the most unusual places.

Couldn't agree more about where you find MoHs. Several years ago while touring Ft. DeRussey at Wakiki Beach I found Munemori's MoH. Surprising because he had no connection I know of to Hawaii; born and raised in California and is buried there. I found Wm. Hawkins' MoH in a small El Paso military museum. I had passed it by many times because it was so small, but one day I went in and there it was. Lots of other medals, etc. from El Paso due to its rich military history.

There are also quite a few named MOH's in the Legion of Honor museum in France.

My apologies for inadvertently posting Part I three times. I need to be more patient when my first click doesn't bring the results I anticipated.

Anyway, if I can manage this, here is a photo of the lone example of Format #1 - 2 Lines of Engraving:

I do not know what "CSD" stands for as Dix's unit is normally identified as "Senior Advisor Group, IV Corps, MACV." Whether this is actual "engraving" or not, I'm not sure, but, to my eye, is appears almost like it is stamped.

Based on the 251k limit on photo size I'm going to have to do numerous parts to get all of these information in. Please be patient.

Thanks!

CSD stands for Combined Studies Division. I asked him about that in 2004 and he stated only two MoH's had CSD engraved on them.
