I have been going through some Garand enblocs I have, found a small pile that are marked "DAQ", which I learned is for "Dominion Arsenal Quebec"

My question is- what era are these? are they made for civilian use? I'm just surprised as as far as I know, Canada was one of the few western allied nations that didn't use the M1 for a spell post-war

I believe that the DAQ Canadian en blocs may have been produced as early as the 1950's timeframe. I know for a fact that I have seen photos of late 1960's dated barrels of NOS DAQ clips. It appears that en blocs with the same code (different code stamp format and appearance) are being made currently, but they are likely Chinese made repros.

The DAQ marked clips were purchased on a contract with Dominion Arsenal, Quebec, Canada. They were sub-contracted to Valcartier Ind. Inc, Quebec. SARCO had cardboard barrels of 1150 pieces of them dated as late as 1967.
