lkgmadmax Posted March 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2016 My oldest child, a Colt 1911 born November 1912 and issued to Major Smith, carried while South of the Border in 1916 and then on to the Western Front in WWI. This Colt had remained in the Majors' family over the years and was sold by the Majors' Grandson at a gun show in Ohio a couple of years ago. Fiziwater Posted April 1, 2016 Share #10 Posted April 1, 2016 Great to see collectibles surrounded by so much context. I have a 1911 from 1918 with "Geo Horney" (that's right) etched into the two-tone magazine, but have to been able to find anything about the man. Thanks for sharing that slice of history. lkgmadmax Posted April 1, 2016 Author Share #12 Posted April 1, 2016 Fiziwatre, thanks. I would try ancestry.com. If you haven't been there, you may be able to create the family tree, and access military records.
