kcmo Posted April 17, 2016 Author Share #80 Posted April 17, 2016 Since my shown olc appears very similar to the one shown by Luftstalg1 as a modern copy is it safe to say it is copy as well? Or is the jury still out on it?
bobgee Posted April 20, 2016 Share #81 Posted April 20, 2016 While this thread is about the large 15/16th Oak Leaf Cluster, I mentioned the first type OLC in an above post. This is the one I facetiously refer to as the "marijuana leaf" OLC. 100 of these were shipped to the AEF in 1918. For those who have never seen one, and they are obviously rare, I'm posting a pic of one awarded to a Marine in March 1919. Enjoy. Bobgee

I love that early version. I had a bunch made when I did my Eddie Rickenbacker display so I could sell some and help pay for the project. You can tell they are fake but when they are artificially aged they look really good from a distance. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/105122-edward-eddie-vernon-rickenbacker-display/

Dave Posted December 10, 2020 Share #90 Posted December 10, 2020 Here's one I just got today. I haven't owned a thumbnail since 2009, so I took a risk and bought this one. I have two photos of the veteran wearing this medal with the olc; one it's pretty tough to make out but the other looks pretty much like the images you see here (from looking at it in my loupe!) Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated...
