MattS Posted March 27, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 27, 2016 No reason for these to be in the "Real or What?" forum, original LTC USA/USAF insignia on a Meyer card. Finding unissued insignia from 50-60 years ago is still very common. There are hundreds of listings on ebay every day of NOS carded rank and qualification badges. mr-tone Posted March 27, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted March 27, 2016 I do apologise. I was posting under the 'what' heading as I'm not an expert on Ns Meyer hallmarks. I just didn't want, in my collection, reproduction insignia and as we all know repros are hard to distinguish from without the knowledge of you guys on here. Thank you for the info regarding 50's to 60's insignia, much appreciated, it has certainly helped with 'what'. Regards Tony
patches Posted March 28, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 28, 2016 Yeah with that 9M shield, it will date from around 1954 to around 1965, after this Meyer goes with a new code, shield will then be 22M. Also notice that Meyer still used pin backs, they also used clutch backs in this period as well, a few other makers from this time frame also used both pin back and clutch back attachments, don't know why, but it makes for interesting varieties.
