Japanese Nagoya Rifle

More information. The sailor was aboard the USS Pasadena that was docked in Tokyo Bay during the surrender,which he witnessed. He was on shore leave when he pick up this rifle. Shown are the capture papers and the rifles marking.

Very neat. Great find. A few more shots of the box and its markings/labels would be appreciated. Interesting that he picked a "last ditch" rifle when I'd imagine others were available. The untouched mum might be the reason it was picked but I'd imagine that was not a big deal at the time.

Classic "last ditch" with wooden butt plate, straight bolt knob, fixed rear sight and no rod.

 

Many of these were snatched unissued from arsenals.

 

Number on bolt root should match reciever.

 

Nice complete souvenir outfit.
