equitis Posted March 26, 2016 Author Share #26 Posted March 26, 2016 Hi sactroop, Sorry, I should have made my point clearer. I completely agree with you that an M8 scabbard remanufactured to M8A1 standard is consistent with the M7 bayonet (and others of the era). However, in this instance the scabbard is in issued condition (note the fading of the webbing for example) whilst the M7 is in unissued condition, so it is inconsistent with this specific blade. Ideally this M7 should be paired with an early M8A1 scabbard in unissued condition itself, and that could well be another remanufactured M8. There's probably a seperate whole discussion to be had as to which specific scabbard manufacturer and date/batch would be optimal to maximise the value of paring with a rare M7, but it'll probably be just the best I can find at the time. Regards, Iain
sactroop Posted March 26, 2016 Share #27 Posted March 26, 2016 Yes, you make your point clearly regarding matching the two as to condition. Perhaps the second contract Victory Plastics would be the best in this case for the M8A1?
