kcmo Posted March 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2016 All, Just received the research back on a 1950's engraved purple heart for S/SGT Tomainola courtesy of our fellow forum member Mes and wanted to share the findings. S/SGT Tomainola served throughout the war in Company C, 5th Rangers. Records show he fought from Normandy to the end of the war when he was separated from the Army in October 1945. He was wounded twice (8 September 1944 fighting with the 29th Division in Brest and again on 28 February 1945) He was recommend for the Bronze Star for removing two snipers on December 3, 1944. I have yet to locate any information on him following his service as a Ranger.
