oakleaf777 Posted March 17, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2016 I recently acquired a New York Guard Military Police badge. It appears to be issued by the state guard and not the Regular Army or National Guard. I know the New York State Guard is still in existence, but I dont believe it has any active military police units. Any thoughts as to when this badge would have been issued? firefighter Posted March 18, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2016 I think they did have MP's till around early 2000's? I was AF, then Army NG, then NYG(after 9-11) and I could swear the still had cops. I remember seeing the MP badge for sale but you had to show proof you were an M.P.. almost positive it looked like yours.
patches Posted March 18, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 18, 2016 Yeah they have MPs, see this. under Military Occupational Specialties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Guard#Military_Occupational_Specialties As for the badge, I don't know it looks kinda vintage like a WWII era one, or 50s right? I was thinking 70s era maybe 80s. tried to find the website that sold the badge but with no luck.I thought it was 1800nametapes.com , that's where we had to get the NY GUARD tapes, BDU's then.
