wiliki46 Posted March 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 15, 2016 I hope this is okay since it is more of a send back than a bring back. This mask was sent back by a Pvt. John P. Hawley of Battery D 342nd Field Artillery to Miss Mary Donahue in Alba, Michigan. I cannot read who okayed the item for send back. It is the closest thing that I have to a bring back item with capture papers. Unfortunately most of the stamps are gone.
Brian Keith Posted March 15, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2016 That's neat, is the mask still in it? BKW

Bodes Posted March 15, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 15, 2016 Yeah, that is cool...It's missing the carrying strap, but looks to be in pretty nice condition....I've got a WW1 German leather gas mask with a tag attached with the soldier's name and where he picked it up....As already asked, is the mask and extra lenses inside?...Bodes
wiliki46 Posted March 23, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted March 23, 2016 Mask is inside. No extra lenses. I suspect the carrying straps came off so it could go through the mail.
