ARVNcollector Posted March 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2016 Howdy all, This black beret is thin and light compare to the typical ARVN or US beret of the period. The felt quality is marginal. I would appreciate any help in identifying it. Repro or souvenir piece? Thank you in advance.

doyler Posted March 12, 2016 Share #6 Posted March 12, 2016 I think it looks fine.I have a real thin one thats badged to NAG.Possible mine was sent home to a kid to wear as I had a buddy in grade school whos brother in law sent him a set of fatiques badged out as UDT Instructor as he was in the UDT.I had a set of tigers from a cousin and a black tour jacket(which I still have)tigers were out grown. Typically the berets with VietNam on them were souvieners. You will find then in all colors...black,blue,red/maroon,green.

firefighter Posted March 18, 2016 Share #12 Posted March 18, 2016 Not the same design. I looked in my ASMIC Aviation catalog and couldn't find your insignia. The insignia on the billboard is below. http://www.1stavnbde.com/17cag/10th_Combat_Aviation_Battalion.html
Mitch Posted March 18, 2016 Share #13 Posted March 18, 2016 This beercan is for 1st Division Artillery Aviation Section. It translates to "Tossing Violence" The little symbol where the wing meets the horses body is a little Big Red 1 patch. Regards, Mitch
ARVNcollector Posted March 18, 2016 Author Share #14 Posted March 18, 2016 Much obliged Mitch and firefighter! I've been searching high and low for the answer. Glad I checked it out with all y'alls on the USMF. It has been an education. Best Regards, Alan
