RyanWWII Posted March 22, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2016 Certainly not a free bird but really that price seems super reasonable.
northcoastaero Posted March 23, 2016 Share #5 Posted March 23, 2016 The following is a link to another topic on this forum that shows a Gunnery Squadron 31 patch dated around 1960. What aircraft did this squadron fly? Does anyone have an idea of the mfr. and contract date of the flight jacket based on the jacket's features/construction? http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/218312-naval-aviator-grouping-approx-1958-to-1962/

alarmadillo Posted March 29, 2016 Share #7 Posted March 29, 2016 Lynard Skynard was the name of their Gym teacher. Leonard Skinner, actually. He was a gym coach for several of the band, and was the inspiration for the band name, although they did modify the spelling. Very nice jacket, with a cool history. Bob Hudson Posted March 29, 2016 Share #8 Posted March 29, 2016 Lynard Skynard was the name of their Gym teacher. It Leonard Skinner, actually...although they did modify the spelling. Pronounce his name with an exaggerated southern accent and you'll see how his gym students came up with their version of his name.
