I like the poster...even for a Navy poster....did the Navy have that style helmet with the P4 style visor???...looks like Steve Canyon's brother or cousin....

exactly my thoughts! looks just like a comic cover from the 60s

The helmet and the fact that he is wearing a parachute for use in an aircraft which has an ejection seat where the chute isn't buckled on to the pilots back like it is in the illustration.

 

But it IS a cool poster tho.

Thanks boys. For me it has that GI Joe box art look about it right, so then maybe it took it's inspiration from it? even this Joe was an Air Force pilot.

 

 

Too bad we can't make out the artists signature, maybe it could of been read, and researched.

The aircraft is probably the A4D-2 (later A-4B) Skyhawk. The A4D-2 entered fleet service in September 1957 according to

a4skyhawk.org . The poster is probably from the late 1950s? Possibly pre 1963? I agree with USAF Steve Canyon style

flight gear from the late 50s-early 60s.
